This painting was one of twenty finalists in the 1999 Hawke's
Telecom Art Awards. Kete in Maori, is a basket or bag, it also
is a womb.
On the painting is written a Maori proverb, Nau te rourou, naku
ka ora te manuwhiri, which means "With your food basket and my
food basket the guests will have enough." (May each contribute.)
