Another
beautiful sunny day for the Annual Haumoana
Market Day, a fundraiser for the Haumoana School.
I set up my stall - my couch complete with carpet,
coffee table, side table and comfy chair early
on the sunday morning. At 10am I officially
opened the Market Day by welcoming people to
the Kingdom of Haumoana.
My strategy this market day was to win the
crowd over with free information sheets and
chewing gum while promoting the Haumoana Mens
Knitting Club and the Haumoana
Lemon Marketing Board.
Membership to the Haumoana Mens Knitting
Club was by way of a joining fee. You then
got a free T-shirt with the logo proudly emblazoned
on it, a knitting starter kit containing fact
sheets, a ball of wool, 2 needles and a chocolate
bar (knitting without Moro - Nahhhh), access
to the Haumoana Needle Exchange Programme
and good old blokey talk about knitting.
We
managed to sign up over 30 members to the
club (some unknowingly being signed up by
wives and girlfriends) with a few international
members as well.
As well as promoting the Haumoana Mens Knitting
Club I, along with my wife Bec, were giving
away free lemons and "Know your lemon"
fact sheets. I also had my photo taken with
a few people.
As well as promoting lemons I was busy handing
out free education courses in the way of "Know
your Goat" fact sheets, "The
coat of arms explained" and the advanced
course - "Training
your rescue goat".
The market day attracted 20,000 people to
the coastal resort of Haumoana. Go Haumoana
- you rock.
